Does anyone know what was going on at JFK earlier this evening? Something involving the brakes on a Lufthansa Heavy? I was listening to the tower frequency, and all of the sudden the controller cancelled a takeoff clearance, said all traffic was stopped, and then had port authority go look at the gear and look for debris on the runway. Pilots were then telling him "Good Job", and also saying it was "Quite a show, I thought my career might be shortened". Very interesting, but controller downplayed it, even telling one pilot it didn't need to be talked about over frequency.
Wondering if anyone else heard it. I believe it was the controller working the 04/22.
