KDEN Tower
« on: September 24, 2014, 05:06:31 PM »
I regularly listen to KDEN tower feed but recently it has been anything but clear across all my devices. Is it on your end or mine?

Took a quick listen. First everything seemed OK. Went back in again to listen and audio was chopped up, noise
and audio was cutting off.  Reloaded my browser and no issues for the 5 minutes I listened. Could be some intermitten
issue with providers's setup or internet connection with LiveAtc. Don't think it is your setup.

I noticed this listening to Twr and App earlier in the week, but can't find any issue with my gear. Sounds more like packets of audio from another channel getting on it. Listening to it now on my phone and it sounds okay, but other feeds have little or no traffic at this hour. I'll check it again tomorrow when its busy again.

Thank you both. That's how it sounds to me...garbled, strange static, and at time sounds like multiple voices/info is trying to come through. It can be clear for times as long as an hour, then go back to hard to listen to. Just an FYI, I am a writer/author and all I do is sit at my computer, write, and listen to ATC... one heck of a plane nerd, yeah. First step is admitting it, right?

It is bad in the mornings through noon... tends to get better as the day goes on. Morning sounds like multiple voices trying to come through, screeching/electrical glitch, and what I can only describe as "warped" sounds, and just dead air. The link just pauses/freezes. Oh well. There's plenty of other great channels to listen to, including arrivals/departures. Thanks for the links!

I had a quick listen today at 1310 UTC and noticed the same thing, freezes, skipping. Sounds like an internet connection, buffering problem ?

However if you download the archive from the same time it sounds fine.

I just checked now and heard the artifacts on the audio.  Almost definitely an encoder issue.  Could be an upstream network issue but in these cases it is almost always an encoder issue.

So I rebooted the Feed PC altogether, restarted each of the clients one at a time - all sounded ok. Now I have heard the issue intermittently on ZDV Low.
I have temporarily disabled AVG to see if that is causing hiccups since their last update. Stay tuned...

I did a hard reset on the modem and router and it appears the issue may have ceased. Please reply if you hear it again.

Unfortunately, the problem persists. I have shut down the feeds and will start Tower back up by itself shortly, to see what happens

Has sounded fine for the last few days. Thanks. FWIW, the feed is missing Freq. 128.75 which is the Tower control for departures on Runway 25.

After clearing the cache on the LiveATC app on my Android device, the problem ceased for about 30 mins. JetScan's post about it not appearing in the archived audio makes me wonder about the client players...
I am in direct contact with the person who created the encoding software to try and sort this out.

Thank you bd 1111 for alerting me to the Rwy 7/25 freq change - I've updated it.

@Datainmotion: No problem. 135.3 is still good for 25, really all runways on the west side, but, i would assume on high traffic times, they'll switch to 128.75 for 25 only--same controller voice. I'll catch this in the mornings mostly.

Again, thanks for the amazing service.

I left the original TWR 7/25 on there, so we should be good to go.
Glad you enjoy the feeds!

I now have the Tower and Public Safety / Ops feeds up using ProScan's Radio Feed software. I'll monitor over the next couple of hours.

All feeds are now back online and fully operational with good audio. Thanks to everyone for your patience.
Also, stay tuned for an additional feed to be added shortly...

Thanks! the high/low center feeds for KDEN are working fine, but there are no frequency numbers listed.
