KFHU - Libby Army Airfield Online!
« on: January 14, 2011, 01:31:22 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I have just put up a stream for KFHU - Libby Army Airfield within Fort Huachuca, AZ. I live about 2 miles from Ft Huachuca and am in the glidepath. Setup is a Sportys JD-100 and a Moxon beam for 125Mhz pointed at the glidepath.

Lots of military UHF only traffic, F16's, etc. Also a good portion civilian and ATC provides control to military and civilian traffic.

Note, Libby has a VERY weird schedule. They change it weekly and it's very hard to follow. Sometimes they're open on weekends, sometimes they're not. Unicom is still available and the airport is still open with pilot controlled lighting.

I'm not sure why it's not on the website yet, but the listen link is http://d.liveatc.net/kfhu.m3u

Thanks!

Tucson is VERY hard to get. I don't know why, but radio signals don't travel far from the airport AT ALL. Every time I go up there right next to the airport, I can hardly hear them on a magmount and my Icom 207h.

Someone explained to me that there's a volcano or something under Tucson and it screws all the radio signals up. I also can never hear KDMA in Tucson.

Also, I'm having a hard time keeping the plug in the wall for some reason, so if it beeps it's just me plugging it back in.

Also, another great thing about Libby Army Airfield is it's PAR approaches. I've been in their tower and radar unit and those guys are very skilled at PAR's. Very cool to listen to also.
