Don't worry folks, I haven't been idle on this feed. I recently was able to (discretely, so my landlady will never know) obtain and mount brackets to my townhouse's chimney and have successfully mounted the antenna 20-25 feet higher than it was before, with some interesting results.
North tower sounds good enough to start streaming, IMO. It's no JFK but sounds MUCH better than before.
South Tower is readable, and I'd call the quality about the same as the Minneapolis Tower feed, to give you an idea of what we're dealing with.
I can pick up the Downey Approach very well (124.9), good enough to stream.
Stadium Sector (128.5) planes come in perfectly but the controller is just barely readable.
I'm gonna PM Dave to see if one or both tower frequencies can, at long last, be streamed. I'll work on another scanner to get approach and/or departure going.
N
ow for you filter/feed guys: I have a PAR VHF-FM filter installed on the scanner and before this latest antenna move, it did wonders. Now, however, when I reduce squelch to zero, I still pick up extraneous music and talk radio frequencies not audible before. My questions are: should I add a second inline filter or perhaps go for a wider range filter? And if yes, give me brands and models that have worked.
ALMOST MY FRIENDS!
