Hey everyone, I don't know if anyone has seen this website. It has a webcam at KLAX overlooking departure end of 25R out towards the Pacific ocean and a camera facing appraoch end of 25r and 25L arrivals.. I captured this picture today.. An All Nippon 777 taking off as a British Airways 747-400 taxi to the gate! Enjoy Here is the website link.

These cams are great, loved viewing them for a while last week. However, webcam #1 seems to be down. Sucks, hopefully they fix it for us.

Yea, I noticed #1 is frozen on one picture! It is cool to get an Idea where the planes are when ATC is talking to them!

The web shots are nice, but I got spoiled on a FOX TV from LA site.  It has streaming video some days of 24 left and right.  Combine that audio from KLAX feed on liveatc.net, and bingo.  There are many differant camera's on nearby roof tops, and they change every day.  Some focus on traffic in the area, with inbounds flying over the vehicle traffic while almost over the numbers.   Some days they will point the camera towards the end of the runway so you can catch arrivals and departures.  I guess it all depends who is on the controls of the feed for the time of day.  Not to diss the still shots on this webcam, but once you see the video, and dial in it to the liveatc feed I think you will agree with me:

All I see are cars driving around... I think ABC7 Has a cam pointed towards 25L and R towards where Fed-Ex parks! i like how Fox's cam is live streaming though.... I want one like the one you posted but aimed at airplanes... LoL.. Thanks for your input... any others you know about?

The B747 seems to be a common thread in these pics...  wink

From a true 747 fan...NICE PICS! I like the first one the best...three -400 series from different operators in the same pic...SWEET!!  cool

Lot's of time studying them!  wink

In the first pic, the the B747s pictured all have winglets. The B747-300 has the stretched upper deck...but no winglets.

The freighter version of the B747-400 does not have the stretched upper deck, but does have winglets. (some have the stretched upper deck, like the aircraft pictured in the second and fifth pic (same aircraft I think), most do not)

#1 is Boeing 747-48EF/SCD HL7436 (cn 23709/671) HL7436 (cn 29170/1305) of Asiana Airlines Cargo. Note the winglets, and that the upper deck looks similar to older -100 and -200 series 747s.

Here is a great direct comparison for pax version vs cargo version:

The aircraft about to land is a B747-400 Freighter and the aircraft taxiing in the background is a B747-400 Passenger.

Not to confuse matters too much but there are some exceptions. For example there are some passenger 747-400's without winglets found in Japanese domestic service which would make them looks like -300's. From what I've heard there are even -200 that were made with the extended upper deck making them looks like -300's.

The series number doesn't necessarily correlate to the range thought it often does. Usually it means a larger aircraft that can carry more passengers. Often in the process of manufacturing companies find ways to save weight and/or increase the efficiency of the airframe. So they can then make a larger model with the same or greater performance as the previous. Sometimes they are developed and offered to airlines more or less simultaneously other times one is phased out as the other is put into production.

The taxiway at the bottom portion of the cam would be taxiway bravo?

Does anyone know how much of a delay there is between this cam, the lax audio feed and the actual time?

The 747-400 series without winglets you mentioned is known as the 747-400D...it does not have winglets and was designed for increased capacity on short range routes.

As for -100 and -200 series with stretched upper decks...indeed!

Check out these pics...

#1 is Boeing 747-146B/SR/SUD HS-UTM (cn 23637/655) of One-Two-Go (Orient Thai Airlines). She is a -100 series B747 with the stretched upper deck.

#2 is Boeing 747-446D JA8090 (cn 26347/907) of JAL, -400 series...no winglets.

There are a vast amount of 747 variations. Some bigger...some smaller...let's not forget the baby of them all...the Boeing 747SP, or Special Performance:

"The idea for the 747SP came from a joint request between Pan American World Airways and Iran Air who were looking for a high capacity airliner with enough range to cover Pan Am's New York–Middle Eastern routes and Iran Air's planned Tehran-New York route. The Tehran-New York route when launched was the longest non-stop commercial flight in the world."

Yeah, 25R and Bravo taxiway turning onto 25R. The camera doesn't seem to have a delay at all, besides the fact that its a still picture that refreshes every 8 seconds. I've found LAX Tower to have a 5-8 second delay but that's just me.

A few more shots, this time some rare aircraft I managed to capture.


THA795, what's special is that this flight usually takes off at around 10PM AT NIGHT; you can clearly see its 3 PM thanks to the time thing.


Saudi 772, I don't know much about this.



HB-IEE of PrivatAir, IIRC it was headed to HNL.



Not rare but its cool to see two airlines having the same color livery.
