Yes. I get approach ok and tower sometimes. I get aircraft fine when they're on our side. I imagine I'm missing a bunch from the West side.
I'm just off 55 near the Peakway (Amherest). So you're a bit closer.
Anyway, I just fixed my setup. Power cable on the scanner has grown flaky and was not powering the scanner. I wiggled it and it's on now. I'm going to have to keep an eye on it and possibly get a new power supply.
Ultimately I'd like to set this up at my work. I work across the street from Factory Shops so I'd be practically on airport property. I did a test though and got immense amounts of hum on the scanner. I work in a data center. Tons of computers and fluorescent lights. Dave explained that none of that is good for scanning. I only have a small mobile car antenna attached to it too. I've thought about getting a real airband antenna for my roof. Not sure how far I want to take this hobby.
Anyway, give KRDU2 a listen and let me know what you think. I have KTTA in there too I get them fairly well and its fun to listen to the students landing the cessnas over there. I hope to be doing that at some point in the future. But for now I just listen.
