Republic Airport unknown RCAG
« on: March 04, 2014, 02:06:42 AM »
Does anybody know who the RCAG at Republic Airport in Farmingdale belongs to. I was looking at the N90 layout and it doesn't appear as if they have any RCAG's at republic. I was thinking maybe it belonged to the tower but looks like those antennas are on top of the tower.

Attached is a picture of the Republic RCAG in question

The only thing that comes to mind is that it may be connected with N90.  When KFRG tower is closed (2300 to 0700), N90 - specifically, the controller for the ROBER sector (125.7) -  handles the clearance delivery frequency for KFRG (128.25).  Most of the time ROBER simulcasts on 128.25 when the tower is closed so in all likelihood, this remote station is being used for that frequency.  I hope that helps.

You're correct, Ron.  Minor correction - it's an RCO not an RCAG.

I have suffered that fate of having to pick up an IFR clearance at Republic after the Tower closed.  One time it took around an hour to get out of there.  As busy as 125.7 is that time of night, if that RCO wasn't there it would have probably taken forever over the phone.
