KSFB is now Class C
« on: February 16, 2006, 07:40:27 AM »
As of today, Orlando Sanford Intl has been changed from a class D to a class C airport.

We will be sharing Orlando's (KMCO) approach freqs - which is going to suck for pilots having to compete for airtime on an already congested freq.  I'm too far away for the scanner to pick up the ground half of approach transmissions.   For now, I'm still scanning only the two tower freqs.  I could add approach, but you'll only hear half the conversations.  I could also add clearance delivery - which is also ground control - but you'll only hear the aircraft side of those conversations if they have strong transmitters.

Keep listening and tell me what you think.  It should be a fun week or two while everyone, controllers included, get used to the new airspace.
