CYUL Tower feed problem
« on: February 12, 2010, 12:46:45 PM »
I had to edit my post I didn't even wrote the correct feed name, its a brand new thing for me, I know that YUL are the correct letters but didn't know about the CYUL even if I read it cause I made a shorcut for Winamp on my desktop so the real station problem is with CYUL.

I was listening to CYUL tower (Montreal Pierre-Elliot Trudeau Airport) wednesday in the night without problems but now I don't get anything the feed is working but we can't hear anything like if the scanner or thing moved to another frequency that isn't getting any real transmission. Is there a way to contact the live feed owner from CYUL tower feed.

Sorry for my poor english language I'm from Montreal area (speak french) and really enjoy listening to live atc feeds, I just discovered it was possible a few days ago.

Got no response here and the live feed isn't liste here anymore like if Montreal CYUL wasn't there, Lucky I got the link on my desktop and saved the links in my favorites, but still doesn't work well we hear any kind of parasites and noises but not what we should.

I have posted about this on the forums several times, as well as our Twitter/Facebook feed.  You must have missed all those.

The operator of this feed (a good personal friend of mine) is deceased. He died in a plane crash several months ago. The equipment is still in place and was running well until recently - it is at a commercial paging site and is likely getting interference from a radio station and other high power transmitters, or the receivers got zapped somehow. Or someone removed the notch filters.

For now I have removed both feeds since I have no access to the commercial site.

We are looking for another volunteer in Montreal who would be willing to help out.  PM me if you know of anyone.

I'm not a big fan of twitter and facebook actually, its a shame that this community lost a volunteer, I'm in Laval next to Montreal and I know nothing about live feeds and radio tower communications, If I could catch a scanner for around 100$ and hook it to a computer, I could probably help, but not sure if I can catch it and have good signal around here, I'm pretty far from the airport.

That could be awesome, I've tried with the links I have saved on my desktop and the feed is working again, but since there's no maintenance on the feed, maybe a new setup could help just in case the current one is shutdown.

Would really love to listen to the ground control and departure channels too.

Thanks for the report.  I may consider listing them again if the receive situation stays stable.

Actually, 4 days without problem with CYUL feed but we never know when it could stop or have problems.

Added them back to the listings - hopefully the interference will stay away.  Post here if you hear otherwise as I don't always get time to check them.

Thanks,
Dave

CYUL Tower and approach heard just a few minutes ago; the tower freq is somewhat weak on audio and with background noise,
but readable.
