Landing Gear Cam??? (Slightly OT)
« on: February 22, 2008, 03:38:17 PM »
I'm seeing news reports of a Emerg. Landing by an American Airlines MD-80 bound for Chicago but now dumping fuel to land at MIA.  They are making one pass by the tower to confirm that the "gear is down and locked."  Sorry but MIA's feed is down so I can't listen.

But it raises the question, is it cost prohibitive to put a small minicam in the base of the fuselage so that the crew can see for themselves if the gear is "down and locked" or is there just no good angle/view to be had?
