Lightening Strike

Last week, over York VOR, I was flying my Glasair in heavy rain (no lightening though) and my prop got struck.  Didn't do any electronics damage.  In fact they didn't even flicker.  There was some paint scarring and the prop was no where to be found.  The final bill wound up being $3000.

What do you mean?  Did the prop depart the airplane in flight?

I highly doubt it considering that a glasair is a single engine plane. 

In my career as an A&P mechanic I have seen a ton of lightning strikes and none with anywhere near the force that would be necessary to rip a prop off a plane.

A missing prop spinner on the other hand?  I am pretty sure it could blow one of an aircraft, hell probably vaporize one depending on what it was made of....
