Power outage at YYZ
« on: August 09, 2009, 10:40:35 PM »
Bad storm in Toronto  caused power outage at Pearson International Airport. I think it was limited to terminal 3, they've got the emergency generator going.

Not much info on how this is affecting  flights...the feed seems to be down

cheers

Can't take credit for this. I was too busy listening to liveatc to get out.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/severe-thunderstorms-sweep-ontario/article1246343/

There were about 30-40 diversions to Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal and Buffalo.

I had a really good recording of diversions back in April that I meant to throw up but my laptop died before I did. If I ever decide to get the data off the hard drive, I might find it again. Things got really hectic.

From the recording is listened to, CYYZ 0000z-0030z Aug 10. or between 8:00 and 8:30 EDT, Aug 9.
Things start to fall apart  between 10 min. and the end.
