Midwest Emergency Landing?
« on: May 15, 2005, 06:41:29 PM »
Yesterday a Midwest 717 left MCI and was forced to land in Kirksville MO due to extreme turbulence - according to reports the first 2 row passengers could hear the pilots behind the locked cockpit door actually yelling "mayday mayday" at the ATC,  and other passengers reported becoming weightless & experiencing high G's.    They think it was weather but pilots later reported loss of column control..

Was wondering if any of this was caught and recorded?  I'm guessing it would have been Kansas City Departure or maybe it was Chicago Center? (or is there a Kansas City Center?)  I'm sure this would be an interesting transmission to listen to!!!

Coming from MCI, it would have been Kansas City center, Kirksville right before the switchover to Chicago.
