Monitoring
« on: June 22, 2011, 07:01:55 PM »
Hello Everyone.
I have just joined the forum and have a problem with receiving all feeds. I select my windows media player and get the message:
cannot play the file because wmp does not support the file type or codec used to compress the file. Also I get the message: extension  .php or .pls not recognized by wmp. This happens on three different computers running xp, 7 home premium and 7 starter. Has anyone else had this problem? I am a novice computer user and would be very thankful for any help.

Windows Media Player isn't the best streaming program. I would try VLC (http://videolan.org) or WinAmp (http://winamp.com) instead. They will be able to play the streams just fine.

Have you tried playing the stream just with the Flash or Java players?

Then you wouldn't need any extra software.

Thanks for your response SQUIRCLE and BCARTER 755. I'll try all the recommendations.
