East Ops @ KLAX this this morning/mid day unusual
« on: April 05, 2009, 05:19:30 PM »
Not long exactly how long it lasted, but I'd say for at least 3 hrs. What makes it unusual is that it was mid day, no storm, blue sky, beautiful non Santa Ana wind day.
I got some great photos parked on Vista Del Mar right of the sand.

Everything back to normal ops now.

Still working on getting the feed back up. Please be patient.

Rob

Looks like you would have caught them in east ops, and around when they'd flip the boat. METARs at the time:

Quote
KLAX 051953Z 25010KT 10SM CLR 24/M07 A3010 RMK AO2 SLP192 T02391067
KLAX 051853Z 10006KT 10SM CLR 25/M09 A3011 RMK AO2 SLP195 T02501089
KLAX 051753Z 07010KT 10SM CLR 23/M08 A3013 RMK AO2 SLP201 T02281078 10228 20117 50009
KLAX 051653Z 04005KT 10SM CLR 20/M07 A3013 RMK AO2 SLP203 T02001067
KLAX 051553Z 08006KT 10SM CLR 16/M03 A3012 RMK AO2 SLP198 T01561033

Period is from 8am to 12noon, when they would have flipped it. From the looks of the wind alone, they probably decided to keep the easterly flow after suicide ops. Winds changed at noon so they flipped the boat then, if they didn't at 11 for being within the limits for calm wind configuration.
