I was glad to see the new ZKC feed.  I see it's from the Effingham transmitter and was curious where the feeder is located.  I live about 45 miles east of Effingham in Robinson and am often in Effingham.

I'm glad to see someone else is enjoying it!  It's about 6 miles southwest of effingham, near route 40.  This feed generally is used for St. Louis arrivals, so during the peak hours in the afternoon, it's interesting to listen in and hear the controllers space aircraft.

Thanks for the info!  I'm sure I'll be listening to this one quite a bit.

This is an excellent feed if you like listening to high altitude enroute traffic. Very good reception of the controllers on all 3 ZKC frequencies and it's not too busy most of the time you can follow what is going on. Although personally I could do without the 122.80 unicom frequency.

In addition to hearing STL arrivals inbound on the Vandalia 6, you can also hear STL departures via the Gateway 4. Enroute traffic like: ORD departures via Roberts (RBS). CVG departures via the Whitewater 4 filed over Decatur (DEC). IND departures via the Rocky 4. DFW departures via the AKUNA 2 filed over McAlester (MLC) northeastbound. IAH departures via the Lufkin 4 northbound via J101. DFW arrivals from the northeast via St Louis (STL) and Farmington (FAM) to Fort Smith (FSM) and the Bonham 5. IAH arrivals via St Louis (STL) J101. MSP departures southeastbound filed over Nashville (BNA) and MSP arrivals northwestbound filed over Waterloo (ALO) (on direct routings). MDW arrivals via Centralia (ENL)-Pontiac(PNT). MKE arrivals via J35 to Joliete (JOT). ATL departures via the COKEM 3 filed via Nashville (BNA). And lots of transcontinental traffic both eastbound and westbound filed via Brickyard (VHP) and St Louis (STL). Not a complete list but it will give you a general idea of what sort of traffic you are listening too. DJ

I think I was able to pinpoint the sector names

124.3 - VLA 58 LO
135.05 - COWES 12 HI
133.22 - ROCCK 98 SH

All which are in the Gateway Area of the center. Which ironically enough is the area where the other ZKC feed sectors are... them being.

125.9 - CAP 59 LO
125.5 - VIH 53 LO
127.22 - VIH 29 HI; not sure about this one.

I'd post all the sector resposibilities.. if only the ZKC SOP wasn't so crappy.

When I went back to Indy for a couple days at Christmas, I took one of my scanners back to restart either IND or ZID, as I realized I live to far from PHL to start a feed and would rather not leave a scanner in the ramp tower.  Plus I missed hearing traffic from back home.  I wanted to hold off on telling anyone I had a feed back up..it's currently running under the ZID feed as I wasn't sure if i wanted to bring back IND or ZID.

After seeing this ZKC feed come up, I decided to put the ZID freqs on there for now.  So that's back up under the class D/Center feed section.  For now it's scanning 3 high and 3 low sectors.  I have the highs on one bank and the lows on another, and to try to get my mom to switch anything besides the banks would be difficult.  So for now, I'll leave both banks up.

Much thanks to the feeder....this is probably my new favorite feed to listen to.  I've always enjoyed listening to enroute facilities.  Plus the freqs on the ZKC feed are the ones I hear IND and ZID hand aircraft off to when traveling west.  Nice to have some good coverage of that area.  Thanks again!

I noticed that my feed is right in the middle of your ZID feed and the other ZKC feed.  It's now possible to track a flight from IND to STL, I even hear aircraft on my ZKC feed handing off the the STL approach freq on that feed.

Since I moved from Cape Cod, MA to Illinois, this is my new favorite feed now!!!  I do listen with my scanner as well, but can't hear the controllers from my location, so this is a big help in figuring out what's going on.   Also, PHL_Approach, the sector names you stated a couple of messages up are correct.

About where do you live at?  I'll let you know if there's anything you can pick up from your location.

I'm not quit sure what's up with the 124.30 freq, but I can't seem to pick up the controller anymore.  It used to be the strongest transmitter.  I'll play around with it some more and see what I can come up with.

Looks like I can pick up the controller again on 124.30.  They must have been playing around with the transmitters.
