NOTAM: New URL format for connecting to feeds
« on: April 16, 2008, 11:09:56 AM »
Starting today there is a new host name and URL format for connecting to feeds.  If you just click on the "listen button" or the feeds via the listings here then you don't need to worry about this message - things will work normally for you.  If you bookmark feeds then things may soon not work automatically for you and you will need to read this.

The new format is:

http://d.liveatc.net/feed_mountpoint.m3u

e.g., http://d.liveatc.net/kbos_twr.m3u

The key reason for the change is that we are trying to migrate as many of our audio servers over to port 80 (standard HTTP port) so that more listeners can tune in.  Many users have firewalls that block any outbound connections other than port 80.  For a variety of reasons this also meant bringing a different host name online.

Those who sit behind firewalls that block non-port 80 connections may always have occasional trouble since it may never be the case that *all* of our servers will be on port 80.  Also, there are firewalls that block streaming audio (sometimes called "Internet radio") - if you are unlucky enough to be behind one of these firewalls then you will be forced to listen form home or via your cell phone.  :-)

Thanks,
Dave
