Pan Am 103 Bomber Released From Jail Due To Terminal Cancer
« on: August 22, 2009, 09:44:57 AM »
"Scotland's government on Thursday released Megrahi from a life sentence for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie in Scotland because he has terminal prostate cancer. The attack killed 270 people, most of them Americans."

"WASHINGTON — FBI Director Robert Mueller sharply criticized Scotland's justice minister for releasing the Lockerbie bomber, an act that "gives comfort to terrorists" all over the world. Mueller sent a letter to Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, who cited compassionate grounds in his decision to let Abdel Baset al-Megrahi return to Libya because he has prostate cancer and was given only months to live by British doctors."

Prostate cancer or not, let's not forget what this man is accused of doing...and like cateyes_777 said, he has had the last 20 years to prove he didn't do it...and has not:

God Speed to the Passengers and Crew on PAN AM 103 as well as those killed on the ground...

Here is a photo on B747-121 N739PA / 739 (cn 19646/15) "Clipper Maid Of The Seas" Taking off:

And it brings to mind:

High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Many people do not know that the final destination of PAN AM 103 was actually Detroit MI (KDTW) via KJFK. The disaster hit close to home in the small Michigan town I grew up in. A local business man was a passenger on PAN AM 103 that night.     My brother and I went to school with his son.

Here are some good vids about the disaster:

If former President Bush's mandate is still in effect. " Those that harbor, aid or help terrorists " are the same as the terrorists.
Indeed this is a very sad day for all the families of the victims of Pan Am 103 which were disrespected by this horrible decesion made by Scotland to aid the cause of terrorism.

"Washington (CNN) -- The release of convicted Pan Am Flight 103 bomber Abdelbeset al-Megrahi from a Scottish prison last year was a "grievous mistake," a U.S. senator said Wednesday."

I was looking around on Youtube, and found this...it is CG animation of how Boeing 747-121 N739PA, "Clipper Maid Of The Seas", broke up, and fell to earth, after the bomb went off in the forward cargo hold. This is a tough video to watch...

That is a very well done animation and reconstruction.  However I don't see what is disturbing and not for the faint of heat.

More of a precautionary statement. Defiantly not something younger kids should watch.

I think of the 259 passengers and crew that were on the airplane during that disintegration and what they went threw during the  terrifying free fall back to Earth... I too think the animation was very well done. But it does paint the picture of a very scary event. Eleven on the ground were also killed when the pieces of the airplane rained down, bringing the total number to 270 lives lost...
