apparently he was a moron who was smoking in the bathroom and cracked a joke... anyone have audio?

I think he was just smoking in the lavatory and at the same time being profiled because he's middle eastern.

a bunch of news outlets said when he came out of the rest room and someone said asked where he had been he made a joke about saying he was lighting his shoe on fire... again does anyone have the ATC audio?

well it HAD to happen at DEN. Last I heard (and maybe Dave can correct me on this) the feed's antenna isn't in the best spot and gets a lot of noise. So even if it did catch anything, it would be unreadable.

  First of all, as the FBI says: "Eyewitnesses are the worst witnesses",   Then of course there is the fact that he might not even have said a joke at all, but is being misunderstood, When the crew (air marshall) inquires you, it goes in such a hurry you get no change to answer at all... so where did you got that pipe from, he might (not sure of course I wasn't there) have said he carried it in his shoe... On the other hand it can also be a test to see how easy they can get through securities.. We probably never get to know....
