Radio Interference in San Diego
« on: August 18, 2010, 01:35:33 PM »
I was flying into KCRQ (McClellen-Palomar Airport) around 9:00PM (2100) Local Time and there was interference on the Localizer, as well as the tower frequencies. Extreme static. San Diego Lindberg (KSAN) and Socal Approach also experienced the same static. Most of the airliners going into KSAN had to fly the RNAV for runway 9 because they could not identify the localizer frequency.

This was on AUgust 14, 2010. Socal Approach and other LA airports did not seem to have this same interference. Does anyone have any idea? It was so bad that at one point, Approach was only able to use one frequency which had not been affected by the random interference.

I was thinking it maybe had to do with the Meteor Shower we had recently? Also, the Navy earlier in the week had been jamming frequencies along the coast which would not allow garage doors and car remotes to work. (Signonsandiego.com)
