SAN JUAN CENTER
« on: September 23, 2015, 11:10:24 AM »
I was hoping that there would be one more frequency added to this feed. The SW sector of 118.75 should be added and secondly I dont know if it has been replaced by 124.225 which I hears some handoffs to. Maybe as a safety 118.75/124.225 should be added to cover the SW portion.

Thank You

This is one of the LiveATC-run feeds - I'll have to see if we hear the controller on 118.75, which is I believe still known to be active.

Excellent feed, great controller reception, and having ARINC on there is a nice bonus ! Thanks for setting that up !

124.22 and 134.30 are published backup frequencies for 135.70 and 125.00 respectively. I've heard both in use this morning. According to what's listed on the radio these two and 118.75 are already on the scanner ? Unless dave just changed it ?

Is there a few second scan delay set ? Seem to miss a lot of transmissions or they get clipped ? I'm guessing this might be because one controller is working multiple frequencies and the scan delay holds it up while the aircraft responds on an other frequency or vice versa ?

I just changed it (added those two - at the risk of having a now-overloaded feed, at least during the day).  This feed operates on an SDR (RTL2832U) and the software implements delay - can't be changed without extensive modification and we can't do that right now.  It's not a perfect solution anyway - it causes other side effects - like when you want there to be a little delay.  If we change it, it would not be on a per-channel basis like a scanner.  Many (most) affordable scanners don't have the ability to set delay on/off.  The delay is short (like a second) but the scan rate is not quite as fast on the SDR as with a real scanner.  Pros and cons to everything.  :-)

I will also note that, as in many urban environments, there is some RF interference, most likely from leaky CATV (cable) amplifiers in the area.  Not much can be done since this type of interference produces discrete carriers right on some frequencies of interest (like 125.0).

That explains it, thanks for the info.

Thank You Dave for the additions to an otherwise AWESOME FEED. 118.75 shouldn't clog the feed that much since its not particularly busy sector.

Keep these feeds coming Dave
