Small Plane Crashes in Iowa, Killing 1
Friday, July 03, 2009

Print LATIMER, Iowa —  One person is dead after a small plane crashed in northern Iowa.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Corey says the plane went down just after 1:30 p.m. Friday near Latimer in Franklin County.

Corey says only one person was on board when the single-engine Cessna 172 crashed.

There is no immediate word on where the flight originated or its destination.

Officials at the Franklin County sheriff's office have not released any additional information.

Corey says FAA investigators are on their way to the scene.
