something at LAX, not sure?
« on: December 10, 2009, 05:49:14 PM »
My mom flew out of LAX on December 9th, around 3:50 PM Local, said a united plane was causing delay on the runway. The feed was down so I was wondering if there is another resource to find out what happened?

If the feed was down we don't have any other magic resources from which to get a recording.

If it is really important to you, you could try submitting a FOIA request to the FAA for the tape.  You might get lucky.

can you be more specific? Did the UAL guy pull off? Take-off eventually? By 'runway' does she mean 'runway' or 'taxiway' or 'ramp?'

Could have just been waiting for the IFR release, or traffic departing from SMO.

Yeah I checked the aviation herald and didn't see anything so its probably not big. Just the Captain said there was a delay on the runway for a United Airplane. (and since EVA is not a competitor I figure they were not just bad mouthing them).

They were waiting at the gate though, so could be too many things.

Heh, not that important Dave, just a curiosity thing and sadly LAX was down.

What are the chances of actually being granted a FOIA request? Back in 2005 my dad was the FO of AAL28 and had to declare an IFE due to a busted tire on the main gear in HNL. They proceeded to SFO and landed without further incident. Unfortunately there wasn't a SFO feed at the time and I've always wanted to hear the ATC comms.
