South Pacific HF Feed Back up and Running
« on: May 20, 2010, 02:53:38 AM »
Hi All

Just a email to let you know that the HF Feed for the south pacific area is back up.
Freqs are as follows 5.643mhz, 8.867mhz and 13.261mhz.
I am using two different radios for the feed some times it willbe on the Icom IC756Pro2 and an inverted vee with the apex up at 30 feet agl.
Or the Icom IC706MK2G on a vertical cb antenna mounted 20 feet agl.
I would be interested in how the feed sounds.

Good Listening

Jason - thanks.

I don't know what antenna it was hooked up yesterday, but when I was listening between 12 and 15z all flights and ground stations (Nadi, San Francisco and Auckland) were loud and clear on the freq it was set on (5643).

Any chance you could provide a list of the times when the frequency changes?

Thanks.

Hi  Jason
It is great to have your feed back again, you have been missed.
Your feed along with PAC area 1/2, SEA - 2 and the VHF feed from GUAM,
gives us great coverage in those vast areas, so thanks again and to all
the other people providing these great feeds.

And one more thing, Jason can you offset the frequency by .02 khz so that the selcals decode properly?  ie. 5643.02, 8867.02, 13261.02.  At the moment the selcal spikes are falling between the letters instead of directly on them.  There will be no noticeable difference in the voices.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replys
I have offset the freq to 8.867.02 on the icom so hopefully that will help with the selcall decodes, i will also do it with the other frequencies.
The times for the frquency changes will vary as i have to change it manually.
So when i go off to work it would probably be left on 8867 till i come home for lunch at about 23.45utc where i would change it to 13.261 until i get back home from work at approx 0600utc to change back to 8867 and then later to 5.643mhz at about 0900utc.
Also please note this radio is my main radio i use for ham radio, so when i get on air the feed will go down for periods of time while the radio is in use.
Sometimes i use it for beacon projects like whisper aswell over night, or contesting when large contests are on.
The antennas vary, but the best one is the inverted vee which is tuned for the 40mtr and 20 mtr ham bands, the apex is up at 30 feet agl.

cheers for now from
Jason :-D
