Squelch on multiple KLAS feeds
« on: November 30, 2016, 03:00:04 PM »

Hey all.

I'm normally not the one to complain about feed quality because I know that this is a volunteer network, and thank everyone for providing the feeds, but in this case, could someone look at the KLAS feed?

On the Delivery/Ground feed, there is some major squelch coming from the scanner, making it hard to hear the comms from the controller. This also impacts the Delivery/Ground/Tower combined feed, as the DEL/GND feed comes in on the left side of that feed.

Additionally, on the KLAS Final/ZLA Sector 16/34, there is major squelch (lack of a better word, because it doesn't sound like squelch at all), making the entire feed unusable. I know that this isn't a scanner, but it appears to be stuck on either a given frequency or stuck altogether, because it is just giving all noise and no signal. The feed is coming in strong and giving good reception, but you can't get anything out of it.

Could those be looked at? Outside of that, all of KLAS and the Las Vegas area are sounding strong.

Thanks!

BL.

This is LiveATC gear but some of it needs replacement. This particular site will be shutting down but we're just not sure when. I will see what we can do in the interim.

These feeds are now offline until a new host location can be found. We hope to have them back from a new location in January but there are no guarantees. This includes the ZLA feed.

No problem, Dave. Thank you for hosting these feeds. This is my favorite feed, as it was there that I got bit by the ATC and aviation bug. So that place is special. :)

I wasn't aware the KLAS feed was down! I used to feed KPBI for a few years before I moved (well, before people working on my house cut my antenna cable!!!!!!) I live near KHND and KLAS now, I'd be happy to help if any help is needed!

the KLAS #2 feeds are down, but the #1 feeds are up. Ground for both the 1/19s and 7/25s, Tower, and part of the TRACON are available.

What is missing is the FINAL sector, on 135.0. If another feed can be set up for that, or that frequency added to the #1 Approach/Departure feed, that would be great.

What would really help, would be a Clearance Delivery feed, as well as D-ATIS, but those may require good line of sight to the field. Not knowing how close you are (if near KHND, you'd have to be near or south of Warm Springs), you may want to try your luck with those frequencies and see what you can get.

ATIS is on 132.4, while Delivery is on 118.0.

Also the Zulu feed is missing. This had the Final approach on it as well. Having all zulu coverage in the area is nice since aircraft coming out of the southern California area fly over.
