Streaming audio recording/editing software
« on: July 10, 2009, 06:41:26 PM »
Any suggestions?  Looking for some obviously easy to use, free, and can record any audio "heard" by my computer.

What do you guys use?

Assuming you are looking for Windows...

Streamripper:
http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/

It is a command-line tool, but there are some graphical front-ends to choose from:

http://www.stationripper.com/
http://people.umass.edu/jvight/SimpleRipper/

That will just capture the live streams.

For editing, Audacity is the best tool out there:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net

There are probably some non-free commercial tools that I am not aware of that do everything in one package.  Possibly even some other free all-in-one packages.

Hope this helps, Rob.

Hi,

http://www.totalrecorder.com.  I'd always go for "free" software where possible, but Total Recorder 7.1 is the best $17 or so I've ever spent.  It does exactly what it says on the tin.  Hope this helps.
