Antenna Tips
« on: April 25, 2006, 02:01:35 AM »
I am considering building a new antenna for my scanner, I want to set up a Cleveland Center and Toronto Center feed, I live along the boarder in Michigan. I currently have a random wire antenna which work well sometimes and I was just interested in finding out what works well for other feeders and any advice on a particular antenna. I live on the river and the water table is only about four feet below the ground in my back yard and any hole dug deeper than one foot must be approved by the drainage and erosion commission for my township Any advice will be greatly appreciate.

You need to get an antenna in the air and vertically polarized.

Google for quarter-wave vertical, j-pole,  collinear, etc.  There are many options.  Get it as high in hte air as you can.
