Thanks for the links, I'll look into it. What I need is someone in the New York area willing to host the radio. Dave, is there any more room at the present JFK site ? Interested ? DJ

If theres no room at that site, let me know Ill take care of it for ya. The current JFK feeder is about 5 blocks away from me, not a big difference...

Also, I think the Miami streamer has a remote controlled scanner...

Didn't you say not that long ago, that in order for you to host anything. You want money for the electric bill since that other companies contract would be ending...

Yup, DJ said he would help out with the costs... if so, its totally possible

Dave, I am going to be away for the year but as I said before, my roommate said he would take care of it with no problem as long as the costs are paid up... And if the tuner is self running, he shouldnt have to do more then keep the electric running Smiley

DJ, when you get info let me know... I wanna see if we can turn a dream into reality

Dave I have a 350 mhz machine laying around with CentOS installed.  How hard is it to set up a feed using that?  Eventually I'll being using it for the Kansas City feed.

Very easy.  Make sure you have a sound card and the ALSA sound stuff installed.  Then just download and install DarkIce from http://darkice.sourceforge.net .  I send out config files once all that is done.

ARINC = Aeronautical Radio Inc.

Aircraft call up on it for radio check and selcal check before entering New York OCA to go to San Juan, Bermuda etc.

ARINC is also the company responsible for OCA communications in some locations of the world.  For example, when you talk to New York OCA, you're really talking to an ARINC operator, not the controller him/herself.

That's why you'll hear: "FIV505, NY requests..." and it's up to the pilot to accept it and comply or request something else.

Correct!  And given my love of the Caribbean HF feed (which is NY OCA by ARINC) that's why I'm after the VHF NY ARINC feed on 129.9 !  Anyone?

I'm onto it.  Just a thought, maybe giving the freq a whirl on the current set-up may answer your question better?  If you're getting it 5x5 then the question becomes redundant!

I've found it!  It's broadcast from ARINC in Long Island, just above Islip airport apparently.  Does that help?   undecided
