Here is another wild aviation story.

"On August 14th 2008 a Turkish Airlines Airbus A310-300, registration TC-JDA, was performing flight TK1123 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Lagos (Nigeria) with 196 passengers, but went missing while on approach to Lagos at around 10pm Lagos local time."

Google map of area:
Lagos was the destination (right side of map)
Accra was location of ATC (left side of map)
Lome was eventual landing site (center of map)

Some of the emails are equally amusing:

"By Ertugrul on Wednesday, Sep 24th 2008 08:43Z

I use Turkish Airlines ten times per month for domestic flights and there is no problem up to now. I know that maintenance is carried out carefully by experienced end trained stuffs. I can suggest you to use THY."
