A small plane lost power and slammed into homes Monday while trying to land, slightly injuring the pilot and two passengers.

No one on the ground was hurt when the twin-engine Piper Seneca came to rest atop a garage.

The plane was approaching Cable Airport about 45 miles east of Los Angeles when it lost power and crashed into three homes. None caught fire. The plane departed from Van Nuys Airport about 50 miles northwest from Upland.

"They were on approach when the pilot reported engine problems," Gregor said.

Weather didn't appear to be a factor. It was sunny with no clouds or fog.
