WASH ARTCC UPDATE
« on: August 14, 2006, 02:27:37 PM »
For anyone interested I just heard from my home scanner a handoff from POTOMAC HIG SECTOR 133.975 TO 127.925(whic used to be 134.625) on inbounds into ATL along J-48. Permanent change or just backup ?

Thanks for the heads up. I was listening to 133.975 this morning and all southbound traffic along J48 and J75 at FL340 and above was still being handed off to 134.625. However I tuned in 127.925 to see if it was in use and could hear traffic operating in the same area as the 134.625 sector. From what I heard, all traffic southbound on J48/J75 on the handoff from 133.975 was only using 134.625, but all the other traffic in the same sector (as 134.625) was using 127.925. So they appeared to be using both frequencies for the same sector, maybe they split them when it gets busy ? DJ

From another person on the forum he advises

Last Monday and Tuesday we were getting complaints from pilots that the frequency was unusable because of interference.  We ported in a frequency from another area.  I don't know when it will be fixed.

ZDC has had frequency interference on various trunks for about two years. Generally in the summer months so I've heard. They had been submitting sheets for repair to PASS. Nothing was being done or rather it was taking a while and now they are finally getting to them.
