What type of radio???
« on: April 20, 2005, 01:26:43 AM »
Hi Everyone, this is my first time posting here, looks like a great site!

I have a quick question regarding radio's. I am about to start training for my ppl and would like to listen to some ATC conversation to get more comfortable/familiar with it. What type of radio would I need (something cheap and basic) so that I can go to the airport here and listen to ATC?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

Jason

Try a Radio Shack Pro-95 or a Pro-83.  It appears you're in Calgary...someone out in Ontario said that Radio Shack doesn't sell scanners up there, so in that case you'll have to find another source.

In that case, try to find a Uniden SC-230, BC92XLT, or a BC246T or something.  Those are all handhelds, which is probably what you want since you'll be in and out of airfields.

Hope this helps.

Dave
