Where can I find ATC conversations?
« on: March 01, 2009, 03:25:34 PM »
Hello,

Can anyone tell me where can I find ATC conversation? The best would be live brodcast. I tried to find it here but it doesn`t work. Could you send me a link which will directly lead me there? I am making PPL at the moment in UK, I come from Poland and I have a problems to understand "tower" so I have to keep listening them - I think. Did anyone have a problem like I have? Do you know what should I do to improve my radiotelephony skills??? It is very important in aviation and it is the only one that I have a problems with. Please help!

Thank you

http://www.liveatc.net/feedindex.php?type=all

There is a link to a list of each feed.  Simply click on one of the green "listen" buttons and a new window containing a player will pop up.  Don't be too worried about your radio skills, they will improve with experience.  I found this site to help a lot while going through my PPL.  Good luck!

My only suggestion then is try updating java.  As for practicing, you might try playing a flight simulator with atc capabilities, such as Microsoft Flight Simulator X or 2004.  These will help with general phraseology.  If you are having trouble understanding what atc is saying, then practice and time is really the only remedy.

Hello pal,

Where abouts in the UK are you doing your PPL training?
I'd suggest getting hold of a CAP413, (you can buy it, or download it from www.caa.co.uk) and read it back to front so you know roughly what your being told and how to reply.
Also get a scanner and sit for a few hours near an aerodrome and listen, or find out where the spotters hide and mingle.
