Any of you guys hosting feeds living in an apartment?

I currently live on the third floor, which is the highest, of an apartment. Are there any of you hosting feeds in a apartment? If so, how/where are you placing your antenna?

Yes, I host the KOAK feed.
Live on the 3rd floor and have the antenna mounted on the outside balcony.

Ugh, my balcony is way too far from my bedroom where my rig is. Where'd you buy that antenna though? How are you getting the wire from the antenna connected to your computer? Do you leave part of your balcony door open?

Sorry for all these questions, I'm really new to this.

I bring the coax cable thru the wall using a bushing made just for this purpose. Here is a picture:

Another way would be to get a flat coax designed to squeeze between a window or door.

My radio gear is right behind the wall where the cable enters the room. I would recommend locating your scanner as close as possible or practical to the antenna to avoid long cable runs.

As for the antenna, I use a DPD Productions Airband Antenna which is made specifically for the air-band frequencies. http://www.dpdproductions.com/page_vhf_air.html#vhfairout
There are other antennas out there too. I'm sure someone can recommend an antenna for you, or you can even build one yourself.

There are a lot of sharp guys/gals on this forum who can help you out.  :-)

I keep my balcony door closed. It gets a little chilly at night and the raccoons like looking for food.
