EICK, Cork Feed - Some Information
« on: November 03, 2009, 03:44:32 PM »
Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd give a quick update on the EICK, Cork Feed!

I have just a few moments ago installed a ground loop isolator onto the scanner, as there was alot of background hum coming from the feed I had noticed listening in from various locations.

Now, almost all background noise has been eliminated and the sound should be starting to sound much better.

At the moment, I am only using a small cheap antenna which should really be used for vehicals (magmounted) which is set down ontop of a wardrobe at the moment but I am in the process of purchasing a roof mounted aerial for the stream so hopefully in a few weeks the quality of transmissions should be 10 x better as in our new location we are pretty close to the airport (Just a pity theres so many mountains and hills around Cork, and the airport being on top of them !).

Will report back soon with more information as I get going on getting a full and proper stream going.

N.B. Also in regards to the last few days, the computer has started doing automatic updates while I've been working (Overnight GMT time) which has caused it to restart the computer stopping the feed. This has been no more than 7 hours at a time, and really wouldnt make a difference as there is no traffic in the airport during these hours anyway.

Best Regards,
Patrick
