« on: September 27, 2011, 07:39:09 PM »
If I take a GPS unit and read off the user way point, then in 57 days later I come back to the same spot will I get the same reading? If not what moved?

You'll get the same reading, within the margin of error of your GPS receiver.

The GPS system would be useless otherwise.

You can get nearly pinpoint accuracy with a WAAS enabled receiver, which uses differential GPS techniques to null out a great deal of the errors.  It is possible for an aeronautical waypoint to be moved, but that is not very common.  You own user-crated waypoints should be stationary.
