Icecast requirements
« on: June 22, 2006, 12:32:03 PM »
I have searched and haven't really found a definitive answer, so I hope it's ok to ask this.  If I ever get all my ducks in a row, so to speak, I still want to do a KHUF feed.  I have an old Pentium II 266mhz computer with 384mb ram and wondered if it would be capable of running a linux based copy of icecast and provide a feed.  Can anyone advise if that system even comes close?
Thanks,
KP

If you are going to feed it directly, you would run Icecast on your server (and feed your Icecast from a local version of DarkIce).  You would also need to make sure you have enough outbound bandwidth to feed the maximum number of listeners set in Icecast.

If you are going to feed through LiveATC.net then you would just use DarkIce from http://darkice.sourceforge.net .

Hope this helps.

ah, ok, misunderstanding on my part completely.  I'll take a look at Darkice.  Thanks!
