Time lag?
« on: November 15, 2013, 10:45:13 AM »
Listening to KORD feeder, I hear com with numerous A/C, but many never do appear on FlightAware or RadarBox, even 10 minutes later.  But usually one does, way out in the dump zone at about the same time of handoff to arrival (final).

LiveATC is LIVE, isn't it? Those "visual" sites say there is a five-minute FAA-mandated delay, but I'm having trouble finding nearly all the A/C that I hear on LiveATC.

Am I doing something wrong?

What player are you listening with?  It is absolutely live.

It's iTunes.
Seems the problem is with the "visual" sites. I get the idea that their delay may be many minutes, or even hours.
Just a little frustrated.

Most of the public flight tracking site are delayed by at least several minutes, due to FAA regulations regarding public distribution of that data.  Try flightradar24.com and look at the ADS-B equipped planes…which is an increasing portion of the fleets out there.  Those are shown in real time.  Yeah, it's not every plane, but it will give you something to enjoy.
