Don't forget to include every pilots favorite part of a holding clearance... The EFC(expect further clearance) time. That seems to be the part left out of instrument training, and also the part that is given in non standard terms many times
a.k.a... hold north of the xxx vor as published, expect further clearance in 30 mins/ 19:30z/ 14:30 local... or my personal favorite and all too common at certain airports... hold north of the xxx vor 180 degree radial, left turns, 10 mile legs. expect 4 turns in holding. It can be confusing for those of us who are natural english speakers!
Try to find something out of Salt Lake Approach as a good holding clearance source. They will give you a good variety and quantity of holds as they throw everyone into them when they change landing directions in weather. In a related story, you will get a good amount of fuel emergency calls as well
