I have got another question hoping that someone might know the answer. After graduation from a CTI school, if you join lets say Air Force and work as ATC, would you still have to be under 31 to get in FAA, on the other hand if you get of Air Force before 31 do you have a better chance getting into FAA as an ATC?
Thanks a lot!!!

Being a military controller doesn't get you out of the 31st birthday rule. The only way around that is to hired by the DoD as a civilian controller before your 31st birthday. I don't know that you stand a better chance of getting hired by the FAA after being a military controller. You just apply under a different type program. When I in training at OKC (5+ years ago) it was my observation that there were many more CTI students then there were VRA's. But to truly get a good picture of the which has a better chance of getting hired you would need to know how many people in each group had actually applied compared to how many were hired.

sykocus is right here.
I went CTI route and am waiting to be picked up. One thing we definitely learned is military controllers transitioning to the FAA do get priority pick. It has been a while since I had a discussion on the topic but that was something for sure.
